Plus Size Bodysuits & Rompers buying guide

This page lists every plus-size bodysuit, catsuit, romper and playsuit we stock. The products above are the whole range. The sections below cover how a bodysuit differs from a teddy and how to choose one that fits through the body, written from the questions customers ask us most.

Sizing and fit

Plus sizes are labelled three ways in this range: Queen or 1X/2X, XL/2XL, and 3X/4X. They are not interchangeable between makers, so measure your bust at the fullest point, your natural waist and your hips at the widest point, and match all three against the chart on the product rather than the letter on the label.

A bodysuit with sleeves or legs has more places to fit than a teddy: shoulders, arm length and inside leg as well as bust and torso. Check every measurement on the chart. Rompers and playsuits sit looser through the hips and are more forgiving.

Materials and what they demand

Opaque stretch fabrics, velvet and wet look make bodysuits you can wear under clothes. Lace and mesh bodysuits are lingerie first. Snap crotches make a bodysuit practical to wear all evening; zips and hooks need a careful size.

Care that preserves it

Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, press the water out in a towel rather than wringing, and dry flat or over a rail away from direct heat. Fasten every hook before washing so it cannot snag, and never tumble dry: heat is what kills elastic.

Frequently asked questions about plus size bodysuits and rompers

What is the difference between a teddy and a bodysuit? A teddy is usually sheerer and made for the bedroom; a bodysuit tends to be more opaque and can be worn as a top.

What is a romper? A one-piece with short legs, looser than a bodysuit and often worn as an outfit.

Do bodysuits have snap crotches? Many do. The product description says which.

Can I wear a bodysuit out? Opaque and velvet styles, yes, under a skirt, jeans or an open jacket.

Common mistakes when buying plus size bodysuits and rompers
