Buying at volume

Who these formats are for

Three groups, in practice. Retailers taking counter stock, where a fishbowl of fifty sachets is the display fixture as much as the product. Event organisers — play parties, fetish nights, conventions, bachelorette weekends — filling bags where a hundred single-use packets is exactly right. And venues stocking a bathroom or a private room. If you are none of those, you almost certainly want the standard retail bottle.

Understanding the price

A bulk unit looks expensive next to a single bottle and is cheaper per use, often dramatically so. A fifty-count fishbowl of 1 oz bottles works out to a fraction of the single-bottle price per unit. Do the division before deciding it is dear.

Shelf life

This is the point people overlook. Water-based lubricants generally carry a two to three year shelf life unopened, silicone rather longer, and single-use sachets are usually dated from manufacture rather than from purchase. Buying a hundred of anything only saves money if you use them before the date. Store bulk stock cool, dark and dry, and use the oldest first.

Latex and condom compatibility

If you are filling bags that also contain condoms, check what you are pairing. Oil-based products degrade latex, and a goody bag combining an oil-based lubricant sachet with a latex condom is worse than useless. Water-based sachets are the safe default for mixed bags.

Display units and their packaging

Bowls, tubs and fishbowls arrive as the retail fixture — the container is designed to sit on a counter. If you only want the contents, be aware you are also paying for and receiving the display. Nothing here is repackaged or split; you receive the manufacturer’s sealed unit as supplied.

Common mistakes

Buying a display unit for personal use and finding you own fifty sachets you will not finish before they expire. Assuming a bowl can be split — we ship the unit whole. Storing bulk stock somewhere warm, which shortens the life of everything in it.
