Roma Confidential’s metallic iridescent thong is cut as a thong back short, so it reads as a high-cut short from the front and disappears entirely at the back. The fabric is the reason to own it: an iridescent metallic finish that does not sit at one colour but shifts through a range of them depending on how the light hits it and how you move.

That is a fabric with a specific job. Under low warm light it is liquid and expensive-looking; under a club light or a phone flash it goes hard and bright. If the piece is going to be photographed or seen under anything other than a bedside lamp, an iridescent finish gives back a great deal more than a flat one.

It comes in small, medium, large and extra large. As a guide, the small is cut for an A to B cup with a 32 to 34 inch bust, a 23 to 25 inch waist and 34 to 36 inch hips. It arrives boxed, which makes it a straightforward gift. Hand wash it cold, do not wring it, and hang it to dry — metallic finishes do not survive a tumble dryer.
