These are the kink aware resources we point our own customers toward. The kink, leather and BDSM world is held together by organisations that have spent decades defending sexual freedom, preserving community history and teaching people how to play safely. Every organisation below is real, active and worth your time.
Advocacy & Sexual Freedom
National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) — the leading US advocacy organisation for consenting adults in the BDSM, leather and fetish communities. Their consent resources and incident-reporting tools are the standard. Power Play Studio is a Supporting Member.
Free Speech Coalition (FSC) — the trade association for the adult industry, defending the First Amendment rights of adult businesses and performers and leading the fight against age-verification laws that threaten lawful adult speech.
Woodhull Freedom Foundation — a national human-rights organisation working to affirm sexual freedom as a fundamental human right.
Education & Research
TASHRA — The Alternative Sexualities Health Research Alliance studies the health and wellbeing of kink-involved people and educates clinicians.
CARAS — the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities supports scholarly research on alternative sexualities and keeps an excellent public resource list.
Leather History
Leather Archives & Museum — the Leather Archives & Museum (LA&M) is a library, archive and museum in Chicago. Founded in 1991 by Chuck Renslow and Tony DeBlase, it preserves history, art and artifacts related to leather, kink, BDSM, and fetish communities, organizations and individuals.
The Carter/Johnson Leather Library — a travelling library of leather history, books and artefacts that appears at events across the country.
Leather Hall of Fame — honouring the people who built the leather community.
Community Organisations
