How much plus size adult apparel is really out there? Power Play Studio sells BDSM gear, fetish wear, leather, latex, lingerie and clubwear from hundreds of brands. In October 2026 we counted every garment in our catalog that is sold in letter sizes, from XS to 6X, and recorded the largest size each one is made in. That came to 2,384 garments from 124 brands.
We wanted to answer a simple question that every plus-size shopper asks: how much of this world is actually made in my size?
The short answer: about half
Just under half of the garments we counted, 49 percent, come in at least one plus size, meaning 1X, 2X, Queen or larger. Only 27 percent come in 3X or larger.
Put the other way round, 51 percent of adult apparel in our catalog stops at XL or smaller.
Only one brand in four goes past 2X
Of the 124 brands with sized garments in our catalog, 70 make at least one item in a plus size. Only 33, about one in four, make anything at all in 3X or larger.
The brands that do make larger sizes often go all the way. Of the garments that reach past 2X, more than half go up to 6X. Sizing up seems to be a decision a brand makes for its whole range, not one product at a time.
Plus size adult apparel: leather and corsetry lead
Some parts of the lifestyle are far ahead of others. Share of garments made in 3X or larger, by section:
- Corsets and bustiers: 85 percent
- Erotic roleplay outfits: 85 percent
- Leather wear: 75 percent
- Fetish section overall: 69 percent
- Swimwear: 22 percent
- Dresses: 20 percent
- Lingerie: 14 percent
- Men’s wear: 8 percent
- Clubwear: 5 percent
Big men are the most overlooked
Men’s wear trails almost every other section. Only 32 percent of the men’s garments we counted come in any plus size, and only 8 percent in 3X or larger. For the bear community and the many big men in leather, the choice of plus size adult apparel is narrow, and in many styles it does not exist at all.
Lingerie lags behind leather
Lingerie is the biggest section in our catalog, and as plus size adult apparel it does not keep up with leather and corsetry. Forty-one percent of lingerie comes in a plus size, but only 14 percent reaches 3X or larger. A curvy customer is far more likely to find a corset in her size than a bra and panty set. Our plus size lingerie section gathers what is made for her.
What it means
Plus size adult apparel is not a niche product, because plus-size customers are not a niche in this lifestyle. They are at every munch, every leather night and every play party. The makers who already build their whole range up to 6X show that it can be done. The rest of the industry has room to catch up, starting with its best sellers, honest size charts and photographs on more than one body type.
The same is true outside the lifestyle. Researchers at Washington State University, writing in the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education, found that the average American woman wears between a size 16 and an 18, the lower end of plus sizes (reported by TODAY).

How we counted
We used every product listed in the Power Play Studio catalog on 20 October 2026 that has a size option in letter sizes (XS to 6X, Queen, One Size and similar). Shoes and other numeric sizes were left out. “Plus size” means 1X, 2X, XXL or larger, Queen, OSXL or Curvy. “3X or larger” means 3X, 3XL or above. Products that were out of stock on the day, and products sold as a separate listing for each size, were not counted. Each garment was counted once, in its main section. These figures describe plus size adult apparel in our catalog, which already leans toward extended sizes, so the wider market is likely to look smaller still.
